Brandon Park Children’s Centre
Brandon Park Children’s Centre is a non-profit community that was established on the 24th October 1987. It started out as an area with 35 places. The centre now accommodates 60 children every day between 4 months to 5 years old. Their rooms are comprised of:
- Nursery (3 staff to 10 children)
- Junior Toddler (3 staff to 10 children)
- Senior Toddler (3 staff to 10 children)
- Pre-Kinder (2 staff to 15 children)
- Kindergarten (2 staff to 15 children including a qualified kindergarten teacher and a diploma qualified educator.)
The Centre facility and building are managed by Monash City Council. The Centre is managed by the Management Committee, which consists of the families of children who are part of the.
The bright and attractive centre is staffed by 27 educators with an extensive knowledge of early learning programs. They are pleased to have a variety of personnel who’ve been with the center for over 10years, which means they will provide a safe setting where your child is able to thrive. Everyone in the team undergoes education and are currently implementing the latest National Quality Frameworks (NQF).
Family Assistance Office (FAO) offers child care Subsidy. The National Quality Framework sets out the guidelines for the operation of the Centre. The Centre offers a four year old Kindergarten program that is partially funded by the government.
Brandon Park Children’s Centre & Kindergarten Inc. (BPCC) is located on land owned by Wurundjeri and is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming community that values and cherishes the child and encourages the formation of identity.
At BPCC They acknowledge their Indigenous tribes of the region as the original people on this land. The BPCC community recognizes the ancient people who owned the property they the children play and gather. They also honor elders from the past, present, and future. BPCC will endeavor to enhance their children’s, educators ‘ and families’ understanding of their common heritage.
As a community-run centre They recognize the importance of family involvement in their child’s time. They acknowledge that families are the primary teachers of their child and utilize this information to guide their practices.
They aim to offer the highest educator to child ratio than is necessary to ensure high expectations and excellent interactions with families, children and the wider community. As educators, they view children as competent and skilled individuals.
They respect and trust the children and work with their families and children to create a program that reflects their desires, capabilities and overall wellbeing. The trusting and supportive environment encourages students to think more deeply as well as develop understanding and skills.
They believe that playing is the way through which children discover, learn and interact with their surroundings. They believe in celebrating children’s play discovery and learning. They will do this through reflection and documentation of meaningful observations.
They draw upon their professional expertise, research and experiences, Early Years Learning and Development Framework (EYLF) as well as the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) to offer a top-quality educational and child care environments. The underlying importance of taking into consideration the needs and beliefs that the children have.
The key elements that underpin their Philosophy:
- They advocate inclusive practices that improve and enhance the capabilities and perspectives of every child family members and communities, and seek to provide further support when it is needed.
- They recognize their role as advocates for children at BPCC as well as for children everywhere.
- They are open to diverse communities, and they encourage every child and family member to communicate their language, culture and ideas.
- They are determined to improve their professional and personal knowledge of Indigenous issues, and aim to incorporate this knowledge into every aspect of their education.
- They make sure that every child is provided with healthy and nutritious beverages and food, with focus on healthy and fresh food choices.
- They encourage relationships built on trust and respect to improve each child’s perception of safety, wellbeing, and identity.
- They are dedicated to children’s security and their behavior reflects their stance of no tolerance to child abuse.
- They encourage parent and community participation throughout the BPCC’s activities.
- They are actively introducing concepts and ideas about social justice children when it is appropriate.
- They allow their children to voice their feelings, regardless of their age or abilities.

The Statement of Philosophy is reviewed each year (2019) and is updated through the contributions of the Centre Director and staff, Parent Committee in consultation with the Centre Community to ensure they create a document that is collaborative.
