Brentwood Secondary College
Brentwood Secondary College is a 7-12 co-educational, single-campus school within the east Melbourne area located in Glen Waverley within the City of Monash. The College has a rich history of teaching students from the wider community as well as in the local area which will be which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in the year 2019. Since its opening in 1969, the school has grown to a total enrollment of 1625 students aged 7-12. Due to the high demand for enrolment the Department of Education has placed the enrolment limit of 1625 students on the school.
The school was initially designed around two main courtyards but as the school’s population has grown, its facilities have also changed. This includes:
- In 2002, School Council funded the construction of a Senior Learning Centre.
- In 2006, the Maths and Science block was reconstructed and the School Council funded the construction of an extensive gymnasium complex adjacent to the school hall.
- In 2007, the Thinking, Learning and Creativity centre was constructed.
- In 2014, the Science Courtyard was expanded with new Science buildings.
- In 2019, the school received $4.6 million for a new VCE/Senior Learning Centre which will be completed 2021/22.
The school’s gardens, buildings and grounds are well-maintained and create the feeling of pride for all students.
Brentwood students attend over forty non-government and government primary schools, with three of the largest located within walking distance. About 60 percent of Brentwood students are from the Glen Waverley/Wheelers Hills area, while those who are outside the neighborhood area typically commute to school via bus. The College is served by commercial bus firms.

When they leave Brentwood at the end of year 12, 92 percent of students in year 12 go on to further their studies through Victorian institutions or at TAFE college. Every year, approximately 75percent of the students complete their university studies in Victoria, with Monash University being the most well-known, followed by 20% in TAFE institutions or other training institutions. An education and training pathway or a path to employment beyond Brentwood is essential for every student.
