History

Holy Saviour Parish was established in 1974, a division of the former northern section that was part of St Leonard's Parish, Glen Waverley. The development of the church and school began on a nine-acre tract that was purchased from the Archdiocese in the year 1960. Holy Saviour School opened in 1977, with an enrollment of the number of 67 pupils. The first classes were held at St Thomas More's Secondary College (now Emmaus College) until construction was completed. Classes started on their new location on the 4th of September 1977. Sister Kathleen Biggs of the Presentation order was the first Principal of the school at Holy Saviour.

The Holy Saviour Holy Saviour is an institution that operates under the authority by Holy Saviour's patron, the Catholic archbishops of Melbourne and is run and administered through Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS). MACS oversees and runs 292 Catholic schools within the Archdiocese, to fulfill the work of Catholic education in order to spread Jesus' Good News and equip their pupils with the wisdom of skills, abilities and the desire to live a meaningful life and make a difference in the world surrounding them. Since the job of teaching the young is a shared responsibility undertaken by all members of the Catholic school community and the school community, schools Advisory Councils have been established to be a key source of communication between the larger school community as well as school leaders. This model of governance was developed to alleviate the administrative burden on schools and parishes, allowing priests of the parish to focus on the work of education within the parish, facilitate greater collaboration between schools, and provide more consistency in school policies and practices.
